This year's 18th issue of Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine revealed on Friday that writer Ryohgo Narita and illustrator Shinta Fujimoto are collaborating to launch a new manga series titled Dead Mount Death Play in the magazine's 21st issue on October 20. The new manga is an original work, but the magazine did not provide additional details about the story.

Fujimoto (Red Raven) launched the adaptation of Narita and illustrator Katsumi Enami's Baccano! light novel series in Young Gangan in October 2015, and ended it on January 6. Square Enix published the manga's third and final compiled book volume on April 10. Yen Press licensed the manga and published the chapters digitally simultaneously with the Japanese release. The company plans to publish the manga volumes physically.

Narita (Durarara!!) began the ongoing Baccano! light novel series with illustrations by Katsumi Enami in 2003, and he announced in August 2016 that he is working on the final "1935" volume. The series inspired an anime adaptation in 2007. Funimation licensed the anime and released it on DVD in 2009. Aniplex of America re-released the series on Blu-ray Disc in 2011, and again in 2012.

Yen Press licensed the light novel series in North America, and released the fourth volume on April 18.
