Synopsis
A genius that fell into darkness. The god of the underworld. Akagi runs from a chicken fight where he almost died to a Mahjong place, where a man loses all his money to the yakuza. Akagi who is only 13 tells him that he plays it wrong, although he has never played the game before. Akagi replaces him in the game, and so a legend is born. When the police comes to check on the place to see if the kid that ran from the chicken fight is there they deny the relation of Akagi to the chicken fight. In the end the policeman invites Akagi to a much more organized Mahjong game and from there the legends only continues to enlarge.

News Live-Action Akagi Series' 2nd Season Adds More Cast
Tarō Suruga, Shinji Rokkaku, Hidekazu Mashima join series premiering October 13 The official website for the live-action drama series based on Nobuyuki Fukumoto's Akagi -Yami ni Oritatta Tensai- manga revealed new cast members for the series' second season on Wednesday. The new cast includes: Tarō Suruga as Nangō, Akagi's partner who teaches him mahjong Satoshi Jinbo as Yasuoka, reprising the detective role from the previous season Shinji Rokkaku as Ryūzaki, Akagi's first opponent in the yakuza Hidekazu Mashima as Yagi, a gambler who covers for Ryūzaki The new series is titled Akagi "Ryūzaki, Yagi-hen" "Ichikawa-hen" (Akagi "Ryūzaki, Yagi Arc" "Ichikawa Arc") and it is a continuation of the 2015 live-action series. Kanata Hongou will again play the title character Shigeru Akagi. News Kaiji Creator's Akagi Mahjong Manga Gets New Live-Action Miniseries in 2018
Nobuyuki Fukumoto's story already inspired anime, 2015 live-action show, this fall's live-action sequel The staff of the live-action television adaptation of Nobuyuki Fukumoto's Akagi mahjong manga announced on Thursday that production on a new series has been green-lit for next year. The new miniseries will run for three episodes. The new series is titled Akagi: Washizu Mahjong Kanketsu-hen (Akagi: Washizu Mahjong Concluding Chapter). The show will star: Kanata Hongou as Shigeru Akagi Masahiko Tsugawa as Iwao Washizu Yōji Tanaka as Takeshi Ōgi Satoshi Jinbo as Yasuoka Hitoshi Iwamoto and Mitsuru Kubota are directing and producing the series, and Mitsuru Tanabe is the scriptwriter. The manga series begins on one stormy night, when Nangō is playing a game of Mahjong with the local yakuza. Soon, he finds himself on a losing streak. If Nangō loses, he will have to pay with his life. Suddenly, a young teenaged boy, Shigeru Akagi, barges in, drenched from the rain.

News Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san Anime Reveals Promo Video, Cast, Staff, Visual, January Debut
Rie Takahashi, Yuuki Kaji star in series at Shinei Animation The official website for the television anime adaptation of Sōichirō Yamamoto's Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san (Takagi-san, the Master of Teasing) manga opened on Friday to reveal the show's January 2018 premiere. The site is also streaming the show's first promotional video. In the above video, Nishikata swears he'll finally tease Takagi today, but she ends up teasing him instead by having him make a face that gets him in trouble with the teacher. As Nishikata sulks about being teased instead again, Takagi keeps trying to get his attention. Nishikata doesn't want to get yelled at again, so he refuses to look her way. When he does eventually turn to face her, she says "finally, you looked at me." The site also revealed the show's staff and cast.
